Haiti Nonprofit & NGO Organizations — Meet Latramblais Foundation

A nonprofit organization in Haiti is any organization operating without a profit motive to deliver aid, services, or advocacy to Haitian communities — and a non-governmental organization, or NGO, is a nonprofit that operates independently of any government, funded instead through private donations and grants. Latramblais Foundation is both: a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and non-governmental organization founded to protect vulnerable children in the village of Latramblais, Ouest department, Haiti. Our nonprofit is headquartered in San Rafael, California, while every program we fund is delivered directly in the community we were founded to serve.

What Makes an Organization a Nonprofit in Haiti

Haiti nonprofit organizations vary widely in size, focus, and structure, but a legitimate one typically shares a few characteristics: registered legal status (in the US, this usually means 501(c)(3) status with the IRS), a defined mission and population served, transparent use of funds, and some form of public accountability or reporting. Some Haiti nonprofit organizations are large and operate across the entire country; others, like Latramblais Foundation, are smaller and deliberately focused on one specific community, so that resources aren't spread so thin that no single village sees consistent, lasting support.

Non-Governmental Organizations in Haiti: Why Independence Matters

Non-governmental organizations in Haiti operate independently of the Haitian government and of any foreign government, which allows them to respond directly to community needs without being tied to shifting political priorities or bureaucratic delay. This independence is part of why NGOs have become such a significant part of how aid reaches Haitian communities — they can move faster, adapt to a specific village's actual conditions, and maintain long-term relationships that outlast any single administration. Latramblais Foundation operates as one of these non-governmental organizations working directly in Ouest, Haiti: privately funded, independently governed, and answerable to our donors and the community we serve rather than to any government body.

Our Story as a Nonprofit Organization Helping Haiti

Latramblais Foundation for Children was founded with a specific mission: to combat the growing number of children living in vulnerable conditions in Haiti, particularly those at risk of being abandoned or forced into life on the streets. Our work is rooted in protecting children's rights and giving every child the opportunity to grow up in a safe, loving, and supported environment.

Mission

We believe every child deserves a home, an education, and a future filled with hope. Our mission is to reduce the number of children living on the streets by reintegrating them into stable environments, promoting access to education, and safeguarding their fundamental rights.

Vision

Our vision is a future where no child is left behind — where every child in Haiti can grow up in a family, access quality education, and live a life free of discrimination and abandonment.

The Founder Behind This Nonprofit Organization

Marie Deslourdes Senobe is a visionary leader and compassionate advocate for children's rights, health, and education in Haiti. As the founder of Latramblais Foundation for Children, Marie has dedicated over a decade to addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable communities, particularly in the village of Latramblais. A nurse by profession and a graduate of the Séminaire de Théologie Évangélique Néhémie, Marie combines compassion, faith, and hands-on action to uplift children at risk. Under her leadership, the organization promotes transparency, neutrality, and inclusion while partnering with local and global supporters to build schools, improve healthcare access, and combat child homelessness.

A Registered 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Based in San Rafael, California

Latramblais Foundation is registered and headquartered in San Rafael, California, which means every donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, and the organization is subject to the same financial reporting and accountability standards as any other US-based nonprofit. This structure matters for donors evaluating Haiti nonprofit organizations: it means there's a documented, legally accountable entity behind the work happening in Ouest, Haiti — not an informal, undocumented effort. Mail correspondence and physical donations can be sent directly to our San Rafael office, and our team operates from both the United States and Haiti to keep the organization connected to donors and community alike.

How This Nonprofit Focuses Specifically on Children

Many nonprofit organizations helping Haiti address the country's needs broadly — infrastructure, disaster response, economic development. Latramblais Foundation takes a narrower, deliberate focus: every program exists to serve vulnerable children specifically. That includes:

  • Child Welfare & Protection — advocacy for child rights, support for at-risk and street children, family reintegration programs

  • Support for Refugee Children — safe shelter and care, access to education and healthcare, psychological and social support services

  • Healthcare Services — community health clinics, essential medical care and supplies, health education for families

  • Nutrition & Food Security — meal programs for children and families, food distribution, nutrition education

  • Educational Support — building and funding schools, educational materials, scholarship programs for underprivileged children

  • Community Development — infrastructure projects like schools, hospitals, and water systems that make every other program sustainable

How Latramblais Foundation Compares to Other Haiti NGOs

Non-governmental organizations in Haiti range from large multinational agencies to small, community-founded groups. Latramblais Foundation sits firmly in the second category — deliberately small enough that our founder and team maintain direct, personal relationships with the families we serve, and deliberately focused enough that every donation goes toward children's welfare specifically, rather than being spread across a broad national mandate. For donors who want to know precisely which community and which children their support reaches, that specificity is the core difference.

What It Means to Support This Nonprofit

Supporting a small, community-specific nonprofit like Latramblais Foundation looks different from supporting a large international NGO. Your donation isn't allocated across dozens of programs in multiple countries — it goes toward one village, delivered by a team that can report back on specific, individual outcomes. For donors who want that level of visibility into where a gift goes and what it accomplishes, a focused nonprofit organization offers a kind of accountability that's harder to get at national scale. Whether you give once or become a recurring donor, your support becomes part of a documented, ongoing relationship with a specific community rather than a one-time transaction with an anonymous cause.
